Effingham was a winner in seventh-grade girls basketball competition Monday.
The Mustangs stepped out to an 8-1 lead on Taylorville then held the visitors scoreless in the second quarter for a 19-1 halftime lead. Effingham went on for a 36-13 victory.
Martin led the way for Effingham with 16 points while Wolfe added 12.

At Cowden
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split victories with Ramsey Monday evening.
CHBC claimed the seventh-grade contest, 24-5. EHS held a 10-4 halftime lead then had a 10-3 third quarter run.
Brynlie Pope led the winners with six points. Eight players scoreind the contest. CHBC improved to 1-1.
In the eighth-grade game, Ramsey was a 33-26 winner. Ramsey held a 14-9 halftime lead and led 23-20 going into the final period.
Ellie Miller led CHBC with 12 points. CHBC dropped to 1-1 on the season.

North Clay (Louisville) split victories with Red Hill (Bridgeport) Monday.
Red Hill claimed the seventh-grade game, 20-14.
In eighth-grade action, North Clay was a winner, 46-13.
