CHBC, WSS, South Central Claim Girls Wins

SHELBYVILLE -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City handed Shelbyville a 76-60 non-conference girls basketball loss Wednesday evening.
The Bobcats edged out to a 17-16 opening quarter lead then had a 26-12 second period to lead 43-30 at halftime. CHBC came back with a 33-32 second half.
Three players finished in double figures for CHBC. Gracie Heckert tallied 27 on eight field goals that included two three-pointers, and was nine of 10 at the line. Carsen Burks added 13, hitting four field goals, three of those from three-point range, and two of two at the line. Marissa Summers added 10.
Mackenzie Bunch led the Bobcats in rebounds with 13 while Sydney Lorton added 12. Heckert and Morrison led in steals with three each. Lorton had seven assists and Heckert five.
CHBC improved to 6-8 on the season.
Shelbyville's Trinity Wade scored 27 points and went over 1,000 points in her career.
CHBC also nabbed the junior varsity contest, 28-21. Ruby Stuckemeyer led the way with eight points while Harleigh Bunch added seven.

At Strasburg
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied a non-conference victory Wednesday evening.
The Hatchets trounced Okaw Valley, 53-14. WSS held a 35-7 halftime lead.
Three players finished in double figures for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg. Mikala Nichols led the way with 22 on 10 field goals and two free throws. Hannah Hayes and Ella Kinkelaar chipped in with 10 each.

South Central bounced Ramsey to the tune of 59-26 in Wednesday evening action.
The Cougars held a 15-3 opening quarter on the scoring of Halle Smith. Smith connected on four field goals and two free throws for 10 points.
In the second period, South Central had even scoring as six players hit net and the Cougars led 35-15 at halftime.
South Central continued to roll wtih a 19-5 third period.
Two players scored in double figures for South Central. Smith led the way with 18 on eight field goals and two of 10 at the line. Taegan Webster chipped in with 10 and Sydnee Garrett added nine.
