Effingham High School had three players finish in double figures in a 47-31 victory over Effingham St. Anthony in girls basketball action Tuesday evening. The Hearts celebrated Senior Night.

EHS had even scoring as Meredith Schaefer and Annie Frost tallied 14 points each while Madison Mapes added 10.

EHS held an 8-5 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 17-10 at halftime. EHS then had an 11-8 third quarter run to lead 34-18.

Frost and Taylor Armstrong scored four points each in the opening quarter. Frost then tacked on six more in the second period.

Schaefer came out in the third quarter, connecting on two three-pointers, a regular basket and a free throw for nine points after not scoring in the first half. She hit another three-pointer in the fourth period and two free throws.

The Bulldogs were led by Lucy Fearday with 12 points and Grace Karolewicz with 10.

At Dieterich

For the second time in two days, Brownstown/St. Elmo claimed a victory over Dieterich.

BSE won Monday evening, 48-41. This time around it was a 46-38 win.

The Bombers stepped out to a 16-9 opening quarter lead as Olivia Campbell nailed two three-pointers. BSE led 27-17 at halftime.

In the second half, the Movin' Maroons had a 21-19 run but couldn't make up the first half deficit.

BSE was led by Laney Baldrige and Sydney Stine with 11 each and Olivia Campbell with 10. Baldrige had a double-double with 12 rebounds. Lexi Seabaugh also had 12 rebounds. Natally Beall led in steals with three. Campbell, Baldrige and Jayne Ireland had three assists each.

Dieterich was led by Cortney Brummer and Kaitlyn Boerngen with 10 each.

Dieterich claimed a shortened junior varsity contest, 8-7.

At Altamont

Altamont easily handled Warrensburg-Latham in action Tuesday evening, 81-35.

The Indians ran off to a 24-11 opening quarter lead and led 46-23 at halftime. Altamont had a 35-12 second half.

Three players hit double figures for the winners. Brooke Runge tallied 31 points, scoring 12 in the opening quarter. She finished with 14 field goals that included three trifectas for her 31 points.

Grace Nelson scored 19 on five field goals, with two of those three-pointers, and three of five at the line. Claire Boehm chipped in with 13 on four field goals, three of those trifectas and two of three at the line.
