Effingham Sacred Heart and Altamont split junior high boys basketball wins Friday.

The Shamrocks claimed the seventh-grade contest, 39-32. Sacred Heart led 17-13 at halftime then had a 15-6 third quarter run.

Borries tallied 18 for the winners while Hecht added nine. Altamont was led by Veteto with 18.

Altamont then claimed the eighth-grade victory, 39-27. Altamont held a 13-10 lead at halftime. Sacred Heart pulled within a point but Altamont went on an 18-2 final period run.

Shafer scored 19 and Plum 11 for the winners. Wallace led Sacred Heart with 10.

At Effingham

At Attamont

Altamont fell twice to Vandalia in Saturday competition.

Vandalia claimed the seventh-grade game, 55-19. Depew led the Vandalia squad with 26 points and McCarty had 12.

Altamont was led by Veteto with 13.

In the eighth-grade game, Vandalia nabbed a 44-19 win. Johnson had 17 and Brannon 16.

Altamont's Plum and Veteto had six each.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis claimed two wins over Tolono Unity.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade game, 38-32. Unity held a 20-17 halftime lead but T-town came back with a 12-4 third quarter run.

Jason Kreke scored 16 for the winners.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town won 42-24. T-town had an 18-14 halftime lead and then went on a 24-10 second half run.

Carter Hoene led the way for the Shoes with 14 points.

At Teutopolis

At Altamont

Altamont Lutheran played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and claimed two wins Saturday.

In the seventh-grade game, Altamont Lutheran was a 45-28 winner. Lutheran had a big 21-10 third period and went on for the win.

Elam scored 18 for the winners while Milleville added nine. CHBC was led by August Cozart with 11.

The eighth-grade game went to Altamont Lutheran, 33-26.

CHBC took a 10-5 opening quarter lead and led 19-13 at halftime and 25-18 in the third quarter. Altamont Lutheran got tough and came back with a 15-1 final quarter run to pull out the victory.

Milleville scored 11 and Schultz 10 for the winners. CHBC was led by Kaidyn Calame with seven.
