Effingham St. Anthony picked up an easy win over Mattoon in seventh-grade action, 48-12 Thursday.

The Bullpups ran off to a 20-2 opening quarter lead and it was just a matter of time.

Brent tallied 21 for the winners while Lauritzen chipped in with 10.

At St. Anthony

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis handed Taylorville two losses in junior high boys action Thursday.

T-town took a 56-16 win in seventh-grade play with a 22-4 opening quarter lead.

Jason Kreke tallied 13 for the winners.

In the eighth-grade contest, the Wooden Shoes won 47-24. T-town held a 24-12 halftime lead and had a 14-8 third period run.

Luke Niemerg scored in double figures with 11 for the Shoes.

At Ramsey

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City tallied two big-scoring victories over Ramsey Thursday.

CHBC won the seventh-grade contest 40-16 to improve to 3-9.

CHBC held a 17-9 halftime lead and had a 23-7 second half. August Cozart, Chase Schlanser and Brayden Bunch scored 10 points each.

In the eighth-grade game, CHBC bounced Ramsey, 64-11. CHBC held a 32-8 halftime lead and had a 24-0 third period.

Ernie Villar scored 12 for the winners while Kaiden Calame chipped in with 10.

At Farina

South Central claimed two wins over visiting Sandoval Thursday.

South Central claimed the seventh-grade contest, 49-9. South Central zipped out to an 18-0 opening quarter lead and that was the contest.

L. Shumate and Kruger had 11 points each for the winners.

In the eighth-grade matchup, South Central trailed Sandoval 5-3 after the first quarter then came back with a 14-0 second period run and took the 34-21 win.

Markley led the way with eight points while Smith added seven for the winners.
