OLNEY -- Effingham dropped a seventh-grade contest to Olney Wednesday, 49-38.
Olney edged out to a 6-5 opening quarter lead but the Mustangs came back to lead 17-13 at halftime. Olney then had a 22-12 third quarter and never looked back.
Leading Effingham was Wendling with seven points. The Mustangs drop to 6-4 on the season.
In the eighth-grade game, Olney was a 73-26 winner.
Effingham was led by Flack and Jones with seven each.

At Altamont
Altamont split victories with visiting Windsor in junior high boys basketball Wednesday.
Altamont claimed the seventh-grade contest, 40-27. Altamont held a 27-6 halftime lead.
Veteto tallied 23 points on 11 field goals and one of two at the line.
Windsor was led by McDaniel with 11.
Windsor then captured the eighth-grade game, 42-25. Windsor held a 24-11 halftime lead.
Two players hit double figures for the winners. Robinson scored 16 and Downs 15.
Altamont was led by Shafer with eight.

At Cowden
South Central came calling at Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and picked up both seventh- and eighth-grade victories Wednesday.
South Central won the seventh-grade contest, 36-31. South Central held a 20-10 halftime lead and kept the momentum going with a 21-16 second half.
Garrett Shumate tallied 12 for the winners. Brayden Bunch led CHBC with 12.
In eighth-grade action, South Central downed CHBC, 33-22. South Central led 18-9 at halftime and never looked back.
Brady Markley led the winners with nine points. CHBC was led by Wyatt Rueff with six.
