St. Elmo/Brownstown Trounces Oblong

St. Elmo/Brownstown established dominance early with a 23-8 opening quarter run and went on to trounce Oblong, 62-39 in boys high school basketball action Wednesday evening.

SEB held a 40-16 halftime lead. The Eagles shot 48 percent from the field and 62 percent at the line with 10 of 16 free throws.

Three players hit double figures for the winners. Gavyn Smith tallied 20 points on eight of 14 from the field, including a three-pointer, and three of six at the line. Jarrett Pasley tallied 12 and Brady Maxey 11.

Smith also led the team in rebounds with seven, assists with three and had two steals. Ean Forbus led in steals with four and also had three assists. Caleb Campbell pulled down six rebounds.

Oblong was led by Max Lewis with 11 and Caleb Hawkins with 10. Hawkins had eight rebounds and Lewis seven.
