KINMUNDY -- Effingham Sacred Heart and South Central split victories in seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball Thursday.

The Shamrocks claimed the seventh-grade matchup, 39-26. The two teams were knotted at 9-9 after the first quarter. Sacred Heart moved into a 20-15 halftime lead and led 31-15 after the third quarter.

Borries tallied 11  to lead the winners as eight players scored. South Central was led by Trevan Sidwell with 10.

In the eighth-grade contest, South Central claimed a 48-18 victory. South Central led 29-6 at halftime.

Brody Markley and Lucas Bursott led the winners with 11 each while Seth Jones added 10.

Sacred Heart was led by Borries with nine.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis claimed two wins over Jasper County Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes easily won the seventh-grade encounter, 52-12. T-town led 24-4 at halftime.

Gavin Addis tallied nine to lead nine players in scoring. Jason Kreke and Isaac McWhorter scored eight each.

Wolf led Jasper County with six. Jasper County fell to 2-7.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town claimed a 37-22 victory.

The Shoes had a 24-15 run over the second and third quarters.

Mick Niebrugge tallied nine for the winners while Drew Hoene added seven.

Jasper County was led by Wade Wickham with 14 points. Jasper County dropped to 3-6.
