The Mustangs claimed the seventh-grade contest, 48-23. Effingham held a 24-13 halftime lead.
Wise tallied 13 for the Mustangs while Phillips added 12. EJHS now sports a 5-3 record.
In eighth-grade play, Taylorville ran out to a 16-8 opening quarter lead. The Mustangs pulled ahead 35-31 in the third quarter but Taylorville had a 17-7 final run for the 48-42 win.
Flack led the Mustangs with 16 points while Jones added 13 and Belcher 12.

At Paris
Jasper County picked up a win and suffered a loss against Paris Mayo Wednesday.
In the seventh-grade game, Jasper County took a 37-33 win to improve to 2-6 on the season.
Jasper County led 18-16 at halftime and had a 19-17 second half. Dexter Fulton tallied 12 points to lead the winners.
In eighth-grade play, Jasper County fell to Paris Mayo, 29-20.
Paris Mayo held a 17-8 first half lead and held that lead throughout.
Wade Wickham had seven points to lead Jasper County, which dropped to 3-5 on the season.
