EHS Remains Unbeaten By Downing Taylorville

Effingham High School remained unbeaten on the season with a 56-43 win over Taylorville Tuesday evening.

Taylorville played patient ball through the first part of the game, but turned the ball over too much to keep it close. Effingham led 11-6 after one quarter and 22-11 at halftime.

Scoring picked up in the second half where the Hearts outscored the Tornadoes 34-32 to post the 13-point win.

Effingham's one-two scoring punch of Parker Wolfe and Nate Thompson combined for 40 points, 22 for Wolfe and 18 for Thompson. Garrett Wolfe scored nine points, Jacob Stoneburner five, and Jakob Logan two.

Effingham shot 47% from the field, 24 of 51, including 6 of 20 threes. The Hearts made just two of nine foul shots and turned the ball over nine times, eight in the second half. Effingham grabbed 24 rebounds.

Taylorville shot 52% from the field, 16 of 31, but turned the ball over 24 times. Taylorville made 6 of 16 threes and pulled down 21 rebounds. The Tornadoes are now 5-4 on the season.

Effingham won the JV game 52-38. Max Hardiek with nine points and Armando Estrada with eight points paced a balanced JV attack.
