The Hearts held the Tornadoes to only four points in the opening quarter and held a 17-14 halftime lead. EHS then had a 21-11 second half run.
"We played incredible defense in the game and that gave us a chance to win on a tough offensive night," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "We held them to 20 percent shooting."
The Hearts had a tough time offensively with only one player in double figures. Taylor Armstrong finished with 10 points. Annie Frost led in rebounds with 11 while Meredith Schaefer had six.

At Farina
Atlamont put together 69 points in downing South Central, 69-51 in National Trail Conference play Thursday evening.
The Indians took a 22-13 opening quarter lead as Brooke Runge knocked in three trifectas and a regular basket for 11 ponts while Grace Nelson tallied eight.
Nelson upped her game to 12 points in the second period on three baskets and six of six from the free throw line. Altamont held a 38-26 lead.
South Central had a 15-14 third period run but Altamont got back on course for a 17-10 final period.
Nelson finished with 34 points for the winners, hitting 10 baskets, two of those three-pointers, and 12 of 13 at the line. Runge finished with 10 field goals, six of those from behind the arc for 26 points.
The Cougars were led by H. Smith with 16. She hit seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and a free throw.

At Cowden
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a 63-39 winner over Brownstown/St. Elmo in National Trail Conference action Thursday.
CHBC held a 30-16 halftime lead. BSE came back to play even in the third period but CHBC had a 17-7 final quarter run.
Gracie Heckert led the way for the Bobcats with 18 points while Mackenzie Bunch added 14 and Carsen Burks 13. Heckert pulled down 10 rebounds while Ruby Stuckemeyer had six and Sydney Lorton and Marissa Summers five each. Lorton had four steals. Heckert had five assists and Madison Cherry four.
Campbell and Wilhour led Brownstown/St. Elmo with 11 each.
In the junior varsity contest, BSE claimed a 29-15 win. Seabaugh led the winners with nine while Shae Nohren had four for CHBC.

At Dieterich
Neoga ran out to a 23-6 opening quarter lead and went on for a 63-27 National Trail Conference victory over Dieterich Thursday.
The Indians led 39-16 at halftime then had a 16-6 third quarter surge.
Three players hit double digits for Neoga. Kylee Phillips led the way with 16 points while Sydney Richards added 15 and Avery Fearday 11. Fearday had seven assists. Audrey Ramert pulled down 11 rebounds and had five steals. Richards had nine boards and four steals while Abbi Hatton had seven rebounds.
Neoga improves to 2-0 and will play Central A&M Saturday.
Dieterich was led by Brummer with nine points.
Dieterich claimed the junior varsity game, 46-39.
