St. Anthony Comes From Behind for Opening Night Girls Basketball Win

North Clay got some good looks in the final quarter, but just couldn't cash in until Miah Ballard hit two foul shots late for the Cardinals' only points in the period. Meanwhile, St. Anthony had a number of one-and-ones where they missed the front end, missing chances to extend their lead.
North Clay battled to a 15-13 lead after one quarter, but St. Anthony held a 25-24 halftime lead. North Clay outscored St. Anthony 13-6 in the fourth quarter to hold a 37-31 lead after three quarters, but St. Anthony came back to post the three-point win.
Meanwhile, sophomore Lucy Fearday had a big game for St. Anthony, posting a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Three players...Reese Jones, Riley Guy and Grace Karolewicz...each scored seven points. Izzy Hakman with three points and Anna Faber with two rounded out the St. Anthony scoring.
Miah Ballard led North Clay with 12 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Madison Lovett scored seven points, Chloe Lewis and Allison Czyzewski six points each, Alexis VanDyke five, and Kirsten Allen three points.
St. Anthony shot 35% from the field, making 18 of 52 shots, including one of nine threes. The Lady Bulldogs also made just 5 of 12 foul shots, committed 11 turnovers, and pulled down 33 rebounds.
North Clay made 14 of 42 shots for 33%, including 3 of 17 threes. The Lady Cardinals made 8 of 16 free throws, turned the ball over 17 times, and grabbed 30 rebounds.
Due to a lack of available players, there was no JV game played.
