Shoes, Cougars, Pirates, Cardinals Pick Up Victories

Jordan Hardiek was the three-point king for the Wooden Shoes as he connected on seven. Hardiek hit three while Evan Addis nailed two in the opening 27-10 run for the Shoes.
Hardiek continued his hot hand from beyond the arc with four in the second period as the Shoes had a 22-9 run to lead 49-19 at halftime.
Hardiek finished with eight of 13 from the field in the contest for 23 points. Also in double figures was Evan Wermert with 16 as he hit six of 10 and was four of four at the line. Addis tallied 12 on four of eight from the field that included three trifectas, and was one of two at the line.
Mount Zion was led by Ethan Hamrick with 12 and Quin Gilman with 10.

At Bluford
South Central handled Webber Township (Bluford) to claim a 56-35 win in high school basketball action Tuesday.
The Cougars held a 28-16 halftime lead then had a 28-19 second half. Willshire tallied 17 points to lead the winners while C. Dodson chipped in with 15.
The contest was the season opener for the Cougars who return to action hosting Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Friday.

At Dieterich
Cumberland High School held a two-point lead at halftime but came on strong in the second half to down Dieterich, 37-29 Tuesday evening.
The Pirates edged out to an 8-5 opening quarter lead but Dieterich came back with a 9-8 second period run to pull within 16-14 at halftime.
The Pirates then had a 9-5 third quarter and edged the Movin' Maroons 12-10 in the final period for the victory.
Cutts led Cumberland with 14 points while Waggoner added eight.
Dietreich was led by Pete Britton with 17 points.

North Clay took an early lead then had to hold off Neoga for a 36-31 victory Tuesday.
The Cardinals stepped out to a 12-4 opening quarter lead but Neoga had a run in the second period to pull within 18-12 at halftime.
North Clay regained a slight 7-6 third period edge before the Indians had a 13-11 final period but that opening quarter was the winner for the Cardinals.
Locan Fleener led North Clay with 16 points while Pac McClure led Neoga with 17.
In a freshman/sophomore contest, Neoga was a 32-22 winner.
Neoga was led by Brady Reynolds and Quintin Richards with 12 each. Neoga was led by Trey Wells with 12.

Altamont played host to Robinson and fell to the Maroons, 54-38 in action Tuesday.
The Maroons ran off to a 15-6 opening quarter lead and led 29-11 at halftime. Altamont came back with a 15-13 third quarter and played Robinson to a 12-12 final period but the opening half was the catalyst for Robinson.
Robinson was led by Nick Weber with 18 points as he connected on six three-pointers and Noah Gilmore with 12.
Altamont was led by Kaden Eirhart with 25. Eirhart had six three-pointers and scored only three points in the first half.

Okaw Valley had a big-scoring second quarter and went on for a 40-23 victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.
Okaw Valley edged out to a 5-4 opening quarter lead then had a 14-3 second period to lead 19-7 at halftime. WSS came back with an 8-7 third period but Okaw Valley got back on track with a 14-8 final period.
Samuel Vonderheide led the Hatchets with 10 points while Austin Wittenberg chipped in with eight.
Windsor/Stew-Stras scored a 43-37 win over Okaw Valley in junior varsity play.
