ALTAMONT -- Altamont claimed two victories in junior high boys basketball competition Monday evening.

Altamont won the seventh-grade contest over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 23-15. Altamont took a 14-6 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

Tedrick led the way with nine points. SEB was led by Poe with eight.

In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont claimed a 43-29 win. Altamont led 20-13 at halftime then had an 11-1 third period run.

Shafer tallied 13 points while Veteto added 11. SEB was led by Powell with 12.

At Louisville

Dieterich tallied two wins over North Clay (Louisville) Monday evening.

Dieterich edged North Clay 30-26 in the seventh-grade contest. North Clay stepped out to a 12-6 opening quarter lead but Dieterich held the homestanders scoreless in the second period to pull within 12-10 at halftime. Dieterich then had an 11-4 third quarter run.

Niemerg scored 11 for the winners. Zimdars led North Clay with 13.

In eighth-grade action, Dieterich was a 21-17 winner. Dieterich had a 12-11 first half lead and then had a 7-3 third period.

Niemerg led Dieterich with eight while Griffy led North Clay with five.

At Newton

Jasper County split in seventh- and eighth-grade play Monday evennig.

Robinson downed Jasper County in seventh-grade action, 52-42. Robinson held a 31-17 halftime lead then had to hold off Newton in the second half.

Drake Wolf led Jasper County with 26 points.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County edged Robinson, 38-36. 

The score was knotted at 18-18 at halftime. Palestine/Hutsonville moved ahead 29-25 in the third period. Jasper County mounted a comeback with a 13-7 final period to pull out the victory.

Lain Burgner tallied 17 to lead the winners.
