Effingham St. Anthony handed Effingham losses in seventh and eighth-grade boys basketball Saturday.

In the seventh-grade matchup, the Bullpups stepped out to a 29-6 halftime lead and went on for a 53-20 victory.

Lauritzen led St. Anthony with 21 points while Brent scored 16.

Effingham was led by Hayes with eight.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony pulled out a 45-42 overtime win. The Mustangs led 25-20 at halftime and 34-27 going into the final quarter. St. Anthony came back with a 12-5 final period to knot the score at 39-39 sending the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, St. Anthony's Ryan Schmidt scored a basket and two free throws while Sam Link hit two free throws.

Schmidt led St. Anthony with 23 points while Lane Frost chipped in with 11.

Effingham was led by Flack with 13 and Belcher with 12.

At Charleston

Teutopolis downed Charleston in both seventh and eighth-grade boys basketball action.

T-town won the seventh-grade contest, 48-23, stepping out to a 25-12 halftime lead. Isaac McWhorter had 11 points and six steals while Landyn Buening scored 10 points and had six steals. Gavin Addis led in rebounds with seven.

In the eighth-grade game, the Wooden Shoes claimed a 50-38 win. T-town led 26-17 at halftime then had a 24-21 second half.

Jacob Bushur led in scornig with 17 while Alex Kremer added 13.
