The high school basketball broadcast season will begin Saturday.

Schedules were rolling out as of Thursday afternoon, so we can go to work, putting together our broadcast plans for a shortened basketball season.

Our first broadcast will be a boys contest, Vandalia at Effingham. The JV game will be at 3pm, so the varsity contest should start around 4:30pm. We will have the game on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com

We know we will have more games this coming week, and we will let you know what games we will broadcasting as soon as possible.

As far as games, Effingham's boys and Effingham's girls each have 15 games scheduled this season. Effingham's varsity girls will begin the season this Monday night, February 1, at Paris.

We have also learned that the St. Anthony varsity boys will play their first game on Friday night, February 5, hosting Neoga at the Enlow Center. The St. Anthony varsity girls will play their first game on Thursday night, February 4, hosting North Clay at the Enlow Center.

In the meantime, a reminder that a maximum of 50 spectators will be allowed into the Hearts game on Saturday.

Junior high sports also begin this weekend. Here are the Effingham Unit 40 mitigation guidelines for junior high events. The same information is available on the Effingham Unit 40 website and Facebook page:
