Shane larkin drained a go-ahead, step-back three-pointer with just over a minute left and Maimi neve rlooked back as the Hurricanes beat Illinois, 63-59, in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament.

Larkin finished with 17 points and five assits to help the second-seeded Hurricanes move on to the Sweet 16 where they will face Marquette in Washington,  D.C. Thursday. Miami received ac ontroverisla cal,l which gave themt eh bal up two after an Ilinois thre-epoint attempt with 45 seconds left and swung the game in its favor.

Brandon Paul scored 18 points in the loss. D.j. Richardson and Tracy Abrams combined to shoot 4-of-21 from three. The Illini finish the season 23-13.

Florida Gulf Coast is crashing the Sweet 16 party in the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles are the first 15-seed to advance to a regional semifinal. Three out of the four one-seeds made it through to the Sweet 16 with Gonzaga being left out. Two-seeds Ohio State, Duke and Miami-Florida also moved on while 13-seed La Salle is also into the next round.
