Effingham High School graduate Grant Wolfe went on to play college basketball for Illinois Wesleyan. And for three years he has been a member of the Titans where he was just coming into his own.

But the senior guard has decided to end his career due to concussions he has suffered.

During his 2019-20 season for the Titans, he suffered back-to-back concussions that kept him from finishing out that year. The first was a hit to the head during practice. He did not play for three games but came back to play in two contests before suffering another blow, again in practice preparing for a game.

Going through a lot of headaches and after-effects, Wolfe went to doctors and finally was feeling better. Up to the concussions, he was averaging 18 points in seven games. He scored a season high 28 points, against Washington University.

But, he finished out his season on the bench and the Titans went 19-9.

During his freshman year, he played in 26 games and had season single-game highs of 13 points, four rebounds and six assists. During his sophomore year, he playedi n 27 games and led the team with 6.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

As a junior he was averaging 18 points, 3.6 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals a game. He was named to NABC Honors Court.

The son of David and Angie Wolfe, the 5-foot-11 senior will be back at Illinois Wesleyan University in the spring semester to finish his major in finance. His plans include returning to work for the family's SERVPRO business.

He has three brothers, Landon, Parker and Garrett and a sister Averie.
