QUARTER-BY-QUARTER
The Panthers and Wildcats went back and forth at the beginning of the first half of the quarter. Litwiller and Pace put the Panthers on the board early with a couple of three-pointers. Wahl was back to her old ways, punishing the opposing post on the boards. The Wildcats continued to score, but EIU fell behind. Eastern Illinois notched six turnovers and couldn't stop Northwestern from scoring. NU leads 27-16.
As NU continued to run, the Panthers couldn't get off the ground. The Panthers didn't score until five minutes into the quarter off of a Bri Mishler corner three. Wahl scored again for the Panthers on an inside layup on a feed from Litwiller, but Northwestern continued to play with a rhythm. The Panthers left themselves with a large deficit to come back from. Northwestern leads the Panthers going into halftime: 53-22.
In the huddle, before the second half started, the Panthers shouted energy and came out ready to play. Litwiller made the Wildcats pay with another three-pointer and a layup to put her in double-figure scoring. Northwestern continued to drain Eastern Illinois' morale, but the Panthers stayed resilient and didn't give up. Litwiller continued to stay hot for EIU as she hit her third three-pointer of the game, as she led the Panthers with 13 points. NU leads 68-34
Kira Arthofer scored her first points of the game with a steal and breakaway layup, starting up the Panthers quickly. Arthofer managed a three-ball to keep NU honest. Washington made a corner-three the following possession, but the lead was too high to overcome. All EIU players managed time in this matchup. All four freshmen were in the game in the final quarter led by Paige Schumann. Hailey Cameron scored her first-career points with a deep three. Cameron put herself at the top of the key again and drained her second and third three of the game. The Panthers fell in the end 57-93.
