EIU Women to Compete in WNIT Wednesday; NCAA Pairings Set

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Panther women’s basketball team will face Missouri in the Women's National Invitational Tournament on Wednesday, March 20. EIU is participating in its third WNIT in the last four seasons.

The WNIT bid marks the fourth consecutive year the Panthers have advanced to a postseason tournament. EIU has participated in the WNIT (2010, 2012) and the Women’s Basketball Invitational (2011).

EIU is 19-11 on the year while Missouri has a 17-14 overall record. The Panthers were co-champions of the Ohio Valley Conference with a 12-4 conference record this season, their second OVC Title in the last four years.

The winner of Thursday’s contest will face the winner of the Illinois/Miami (OH) game in the second round of the WNIT.

Baylor, Notre Dame, Stanford, UConn Earn Top Seeds In Women's NCAA Tourney

Baylor, Notre Dame, Stanford and Connecticut are the top seeds for the women's NCAA Tournament. The Lady Bears are the number-one overall seed in the tourney, which begins on Saturday. The women's Final Four is April 7, with the championship game set for April 9 in New Orleans.
