The National Basketball Association’s board of governors and the players’ association will hold separate meetings today, after which they’re expected to agree to start the new season on December 22 and play a shortened 72-game schedule, ESPN reported Wednesday.

The last season, which was suspended for months because of the coronavirus pandemic, just ended on October 11 when the L.A. Lakers won the NBA championship.

Lebron James Asks For Information

Lebron James tweeted Wednesday to ask the public for any information in the death of Ericka Weems, the 37-year-old sister of his friend, Brandon Weems, director of scouting for his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Weems was found Monday in her Akron, Ohio, home with a gunshot wound to the head. Police haven’t made any arrests or announced a suspect. James, who’s from Akron, tweeted, in part: “My brother’s sister was murdered this past weekend in her home! . . . My city I need y’all to go to work and find out who did this awful, shameful, disgusting thing to such a caring, loving angel!”
