Area Players Garner Honorable Mention on AP Team

Teutopolis High School's Derek Smith and Dieterich High School's Dalton Hinterscher garnered Honorable Mention honors on the Associated Press All-State Boys Basketball Teams.
Smith, a 6-foot-3 senior guard, was named Honorable Mention on the Class 2A team. Also garnering Honorable Mention from around the area were Aaron Siler (Robinson), 5-foot-11, senior, guard and Brandon Wolfe (Casey-Westfield), junior.
Named to the 2A First Team were Ethan Happ (Rockridge), Tyler Smithpeters (Harrisburg), Mark Weems (Chicago Seton), Alex Foster (Chicago Seton) and Matt Reinke (Winnebago). Second Team honors went to Martel Hunter (Monmouth-Roseville), Paxton Harmon (West Hancock), Shaquon Alexander (Chicago Hales Franciscan), Capel Henshaw (Harrisburg) and Tevin King (Providence St. Mel).
Hinterscher garnered Honorable Mention honors on the Class 1A All-State Team. Hinterscher is a 5-foot-11 senior guard. Anthony Johnson (Oblong), a 6-foot-3 senior guard, also garnered Honorable Mention.
Named to the Class 1A First Team were Andrew Drone (Gallatin County), Marquis Borney (Madison), Brett Anderson (Newark), Jared Entwistle (Illini Central) and Jeremy Weeke (Okawville). Named to the Second Team were Jacob Johnston (Erie), Devantae Price (Tamms Egyptian), Gabe Owens (Woodlawn), Brett Banning (Dakota) and Dalton Shaner (Lanark Eastland).
