Carbondale Advances to EHS Regional Title Game

Carbondale High School edged Olney, 46-44 to advance to the championship game of the Class 3A Effingham Boys Basketball Regional Tuesday evening.

Carbondale held a 13-12 opening quarter lead but the score was tied at 22-22 at halftime. Carbondale then had a 14-13 third quarter and finished out with a 10-9 final period for the victory.

Davaris Macklin and James Baltz led the winners with 10 points each.

Olney was led by Braden Flanagan with 25 and Chase Travis with 12. The Tigers end the season with a 16-14 record.

Carbondale (22-7) advances to the title contest Friday to face either Effingham or Centralia. The Hearts take on Centralia tonight at 7.
