Wooden Shoes Deliver Comeback Victory in Paris Regional

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes staged a big second half to come from behind and post a 63-58 win over the Robinson Maroons in semifinal action at the Paris 2A Regional Tournament. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

The Shoes will play Friday night at 7:00 for the regional championship against the winner of Wednesday night's Pana/Newton game.

The Shoes had a 4-3 lead early in the contest, then trailed until the second half. Robinson led 17-11 after one quarter and 29-20 at halftime. Jordan Hardiek hit two big three-point shots early in the third quarter to turn the momentum to the Shoes. Robinson battled back and still led 40-35 heading to the final quarter, but that's when Teutopolis exploded for 28 points to 18 for the Maroons to seal the win. Jordan Hardiek hit two more threes, while Evan Wermert scored nine points in the final quarter, Brock Deters scored seven that quarter, Luke Ungrund hit four foul shots in the period, Evan Addis hit a three, and Mitch Hardiek got a bucket to account for the big quarter.

Teutopolis ended up hitting 53% from the field, 26 of 49, including 6 of 16 threes. The Shoes made 13 of 18 foul shots, including 11 of 14 in the fourth quarter, turned the ball over 15 times, and grabbed 20 rebounds.

Robinson made 24 of 47 shots, 51%, including 5 of 10 threes. The Maroons made five of eight free throws, committed 15 turnovers, and pulled down 21 rebounds.

Brock Deters finished with 21 points and nine rebounds to pace the Shoes, especially early when he scored half of the Shoes' 20 first half points. He was nine of 11 from the field. Evan Wermert scored 14 points, and Jordan Hardiek hit the four threes for his 12 points. Also for the Shoes: Luke Ungrund 8, Mitch Hardiek 5, and Evan Addis 3.

Kade Lassen and Brayden Childress each scored 20 points to lead Robinson, while Jeffrey Goble added 13 points.

Teutopolis improved to 21-9 on the season, while Robinson finished their season at 11-19.
