Teutopolis eighth-graders are headed to the Class 8-3A State Tournament Saturday.
TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis claimed the championship of its own Class 8-3A Boys Basketball Sectional Wednesday evening.
The Wooden Shoes pounded Shelbyville Moulton, 47-17 for the championship.
T-town edged out to a 9-6 opening quarter lead then had a 17-2 second period surge to lead 26-8 at halftime. The Shoes had a 21-9 second half.
Eli Hanson tallied 15 points to lead the way in scoring while Joey Niebrugge chipped in with 13.
T-town advances to the Class 8-3A State Tournament Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and will take on Lansing Heritage. The State Tournament will take place at Tolono Unity Junior High School. The Shoes are 23-3 on the season while Lansing Heritage stands at 18-3.

Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Sectional
Newton St. Thomas saw its season come to a close at the St. Michael Sectional Wednesday evening.
Lovejoy tallied a 39-33 win over St. Thomas in the championship game. Lovejoy advances to the State Tournament with a 21-5 record.
Class 8-2A St. Anthony Sectional
Effingham St. Anthony fell to Casey-Westfield in the championship game of its own sectional Wednesday.
Casey-Westfield was a 48-40 winner and improved to 24-3 on the season. Casey-Westfield advances to the State Tournament Saturday.
