FARINA -- Effingham St. Anthony picked up a victory over National Trail Conference opponent South Central Tuesday evening, 68-31.

 

Jaccob Dust got the Bulldogs off in the right direction with an 11 point opening quarter as St. Anthony raced out to a 24-8 lead.

St. Anthony led 30-19 at halftime and 66-21 going into the final period.

Dust finished with 16 points while Logan Antrim tallied 12.

South Central was led by Watwood with nine points.

The Bulldogs claimed the junior varsity contest, 50-34 and the freshman/sophomore game, 47-18.

At St. Elmo

Cumberland came calling and tallied a 57-47 non-conference win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday evening.

The Pirates took a 24-20 halftime lead then had a 14-9 third period run. Cumberland connected on 42 percent from the field and 70 percent at the line with 14 of 20 free throws.

Three players hit double figures for the Pirates. Ross Hemmen led the way with 17 while Wyatt Napier added 13 and Brennyn Cutts 10. Hemmen, Napier and Cutts pulled down seven rebounds each. Cutts led in assists with three.

SEB was led by Andy Goldsborough with 11 and Gavyn Smith with 10. Jaxson Tish led in rebounds with seven. Bryton Pruett had four assists.

At St. Elmo

At Altamont

Altamont had a tough time with Neoga and went into overtime before pulling out a 55-54 win in National Trail Conference play Tuesday evening.

Denver Duckwitz tallied 17 points, scoring eight in the opening 18-7 run. Also in double figures for the Indians was Noah Teasley with 13 and Aidan Jahraus.with 12. Kaden Eirhart was on the verge of double figures with nine.

Altamont held a 21-16 halftime lead but Neoga tied the score at 36-36 going into the final quarter. Both teams scored 11 in the final period and the game went into the overtime period.

Altamont's Noah Klimpel scored a basket and two free throws after not scoring in regulation, while Eirhart hit a basket and Jahraus a free throw. The Indians are now 5-0 in the conference, 23-4 overall.

Neoga was led by Paci McClure with 16 and Trevor Roy with 15. Nick Titus chipped in with nine.

In the junior varsity game, Altamont captured a 53-23 win.

At Olney

North Clay (Louisville) hosted Olney in a non-conference match and fell 61-46 Tuesday evening.

The Cardinals got off to a 19-6 opening quarter lead and led 30-24 at halftime. But Olney came out of halftime to move ahead 45-36 with a 21-6 third quarter run.

Ethan Bible led North Clay with 16 points while Luke Fleener chipped in with 11.

In the junior varsity game, North Clay was a 42-27 winner.

Casey-Westfield tallied a 44-40 victory over Teutopolis in action Tuesday evening.

The Warriors edged out to an 8-7 opening quarter lead and held an 18-15 halftime lead. Casey-Westfield had a 14-10 third period. T-town came back with a 15-12 final period only to fall short.

Casey-Westfield had three players in double figures. Noah Livingston and Jackson Hills led with 12 each while Caleb Patrick added 10.
