Hearts Put On Clinic in Downing Charleston in Boys Action Tuesday

The Effingham Hearts put on a clinic Tuesday night in defeating the Charleston Trojans 93-38 in boys Apollo Conference action. The contest was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.
There wasn't an area where the Hearts didn't excel. Effingham led 24-4 after one quarter, 54-15 at halftime, and 86-30 after three quarters.
Effingham shot 56% from the field, making 35 of 63 attempts, including 13 of 25 threes. The Hearts made eight of 10 foul shots, turned the ball over just eight times, and grabbed 43 rebounds.
Charleston made 13 of 51 shots, 25%, including 4 of 19 threes. The Trojans hit 8 of 11 free throws, turned the ball over 15 times, and pulled down 23 rebounds.
Effingham finished with three players with more than 20 points; Parker Wolfe with 31 points, Nate Thompson with 24 points to go along with 11 rebounds, and Drew Thompson scored 23 points. Also for Effingham: Jacob Stoneburner four points with seven rebounds, Chase Woomer three, Brayden Pals two with six rebounds, and Tate Niebrugge, Dylan Ritz and Wyatt Jones with two apiece.
Cade Landrus led Charleston with 17 points, while Jackson Burgess scored 10 points.
Effingham improved to 15-9 on the season, while Charleston slipped to 9-15.
Effingham won the JV game 59-54. For Effingham, Jett Volpi scored 17 points, Max Woelfer 13, and Garrett Wolfe 9.
