Teutopolis, St. Anthony See Seasons End in Junior High Quarterfinals; Altamont Lutheran Wins in Double OT

St. Anthony and Teutopolis saw their boys 7th grade basketball seasons end Saturday, but Altamont Lutheran is still rolling after a thrilling win.

The Bullpups lost to Ford Heights Cottage Grove UGC 47-41 in the 7-2A quarterfinals at Clinton High School.

Ryan Schmidt scored 18 points to lead St. Anthony. Also for the Bullpups: Lane Frost and Samuel Link eight each; Joey C. Trupiano four, and Will Fearday three.

St. Anthony ends its season with a 21-6 record.

Meanwhile, the Wooden Shoes lost 42-38 in overtime to Williamsville in 7-3A quarterfinal action at Wenona Fieldcrest.

Jacob Bushur led Teutopolis with 17 points. Also for T-Town: Alex Kremer six, Brody Thoele five, Henry Thompson four, and Luke Niemerg, Carter Hoene and Mick Niebrugge two apiece.

Teutopolis closed their campaign with an 18-8 record.

One junior high team that won was Altamont Lutheran Interparish School. The Rockets got by Our Lady at Mt. Carmel 59-56 Saturday in double overtime.

ALIS will take on Holy Childhood of Mascoutah tonight at 6:00 at the Class S state tournament.
