Parker Wolfe Latest in 1,000 Point Club; Saturday Scores

Effingham High School junior Parker Wolfe is celebrating his 17th birthday in style today, as the latest member of the 1,000 point club.

Wolfe headed into Saturday night's game at Mahomet-Seymour needing 30 points to reach the milestone. He scored a whopping 41 points in the contest to sail past the mark.

The outburst of points wasn't enough to get the Hearts a win, though, as Effingham lost to Mahomet-Seymour 89-81.

The Hearts trailed 20-17 after one quarter, and were down 48-38 at halftime after a 28-point quarter for the Bulldogs. The Hearts were down 65-51 after three quarters, then poured in 30 points in the fourth quarter, but still lost by eight points.

In addition to Wolfe's 41 points, Nate Thompson scored 20 points and Jacob Stoneburner was also in double figures with 11 points. Also for the Hearts: Tate Niebrugge five, and Drew Thompson and Brayden Pals two apiece.

Effingham won the JV game 59-50. For the JV Hearts: Max Woelfer 17, Jett Volpi 14, Garrett Wolfe 12, Jakob Logan and Dalton Fox four apiece, Ben Thompson and Jackson Lee three each, and Max Hardiek two.

The St. Anthony Bulldogs improved to 22-3 Saturday with a 58-43 win over the Newton Eagles.

The Bulldogs led 20-13 after one quarter and 34-18 at halftime, then saw the Eagles outscore them 19-7 in the third quarter to pull within 41-37 before the Bulldogs posted a 17-6 fourth quarter edge to win by 15.

Jaccob Dust and Jack Hoene combined for 50 of the Bulldogs' 58 points; 28 for Dust, 22 for Hoene. Also for St. Anthony: Logan Antrim four, and Aaron Webb and Kaden Fearday two apiece. The five starters scored all of the points.

Zumbahlen with 18 and Schafer with 10 led Newton. Also for the Eagles: Weber seven, Einhorn five, E. Schafer two, and Tharp one.

St. Anthony won the JV game 66-46. For the JV Bulldogs: Wiedman 15, Nuxoll and Hotze 12 each, Moore seven, Schuette and Croy five apiece, Ruholl and Niebrugge four each, and Willenborg two.

For the Newton JV: M. Zumbahlen 15, Meinhart 11, Schafer six, Tharp, Dossey, Mulvey and Koebele three each, and Shamhart-Williams two.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes posted a 56-36 win over the Robinson Maroons Saturday.

Robinson led the game 16-15 after one quarter, but the Shoes outscored the Maroons 16-2 in the second quarter to lead 31-18. The Shoes had 12-9 and 13-9 edges in the third and fourth quarters to win by 20.

Jordan Hardiek led Teutopolis with 24 points and Evan Wermert was in double figures with 12 points. Also for T-Town: Mitch Hardiek and Jack Poelker six each, Matthew Deters four, Luke Ungrund three, and Brock Deters one.

Teutopolis improved to 17-8 this season.

The Altamont Indians are now 22-4 on the season after posting a 58-39 win over Carlyle Saturday.

Altamont led 11-10 after one quarter, then outscored Carlyle 16-8 in the second period to lead 27-18 at halftime. The Indians' lead dwindled to 36-30 after three quarters, but they outscored Carlyle 22-9 in the fourth quarter to win by 19.

Kaden Eirhart led Altamont with 22 points. Also for the Indians: Noah Teasley eight, Noah Klimpel and Jared Kollman six each, Denver Duckwitz five, Aidan Jahraus and Jerod Ruffner four apiece, Will Schultz two, and Derick Budde one.

Altamont won the JV game 56-25.

For the JV Indians: Mason Winn 17, Bryce Suckow 11, Mason Robinson and Will Schultz seven each, Eric Kollman five, Jared Hammer four, Tyler Robbins three, Noah Klimpel two.

The North Clay Cardinals poured in 90 points Saturday to post a 90-77 win over Patoka.

Tyson Jones led the Cardinals with 34 points. Also for the Cardinals: Ethan Bible 17, Ian Bailey 14, Luke Fleener 12, Lane Holkenbrink seven, and Dakota Weidner six.

North Clay won the JV game 47-35. 

For the JV Cardinals: Collyn Ballard 10, Brady Ingram seven, Dakota Weidner six, Logan Fleener six, Bryton Griffy, Landis Rinehart and Gabe Applegate four each, and Layton Dawkins, Aiden Hardiek and Holden Dawkins two each.

In Saturday girls action, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City posted their 20th win of the campaign, winning 45-36 over Nokomis to close out their regular season.

Carsen Burks led the Bobcats with 13 points. Also for CHBC: Lauren Wojcik nine, Mackenzie Bunch eight, Sydney Lorton and Lani Morrison four each, Jaelyn Robertson and Gracie Heckert three apiece, and Madison Cherry one.

CHBC finished the regular season at 20-8.

CHBC won the JV game 36-23. For the CHBC JV: Lani Morrison nine, Mady Wojcik seven, Gracie Heckert, Aja Gour and Mackenzie Bunch six each, and Harleigh Bunch two.
