Effingham St. Anthony claimed the championship of the Class 7-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Boys Basketball Sectional Wednesday.

The Bullpups downed Casey-Westfield, 27-22. St. Anthony improved to 21-5 on the season and will now head to the state tournament at Clinton High School Saturday.

St. Anthony will face either Ford Heights Cottage Grove or Joliet Laraway at 10 a.m.

 

Class 7-3A Cumberland Sectional

Teutopolis Junior High School claimed the championship of the Class 7-3A Cumberland Sectional Wednesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 7-4 opening quarter lead on Tuscola then had an 11-2 third period and finished out with 13 -7 final quarter for the 35-15 victory.

Jacob Bushur was the lone player in double figures with 12. The Shoes are now 18-7 on the season.

T-town will face either Williamsville or Quincy St. Peter Saturday at the Class 3A State Tournament at Wenona. Williamsville and Quincy St. Peter are to meet today for the sectional championship at Lincoln Junior High School.

Class 7-1A Pana Sectional

Pana Sacred Heart claimed the championship of its own sectional by beating Sigel St. Michael Wednesday.

Pana Sacred Heart was a 33-21 winner and will head to the Class 7-1A State Tournament Saturday at East Peoria Central Junior High School and will play at 1 p.m. Pana Sacred Heart is unbeaten at 23-0.
