Girls High School Regionals Begin Play Monday

Effingham St. Anthony, North Clay (Louisville) and Neoga will play host to 1A regionals.

The Bulldogs are seeded fourth and won't play until Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the (6) Dieterich vs. (12) Ramsey Monday contest, which is also set for 7:30.

Altamont drew the No. 1 seed and will play Wednesday at 6 p.m. against the winner of the (8) Red Hill (Bridgeport) and (9) Cumberland contest, also played a 6 p.m. Monday.

The championship is scheduled for Friday, February 14 at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the Casey-Westfield Sectional.

In the Class 1A North Clay Regional, Brownstown/St. Elmo drew the No. 2 seed while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City is third, North Clay fifth, South Central seventh, Palestine/Hutsonville 10th and Oblong 11th.

The regional opens Monday with South Central against Palestine/Hutsonville at 6 followed by North Clay taking on Oblong at 7;30.

Thursday, February 11 games are Brownstown/St. Elmo against the winner of game one and CHBC against the winner of game 2.

The title contest is set for Friday, February 14 at 7 p.m.

Members of the Neoga regional include the fourth-seeded host squad along with sixth-seeded Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, No. 1 Hume Shiloh, No. 8 Martinville and No. 10 Casey-Westfield.

One game is contested Monday with two Tuesday and the championship is set for Thursday, February 13 at 7 p.m.

In the Class 2A Newton Regional will be No. 2 Teutopolis and No. 8 Newton along with No. 3 Pana, No. 5 Mount Carmel and No. 9 Lawrenceville.

Newton plays Monday against Lawrenceville at 6 p.m. while T-town will meet the winner of that game Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The title contest is set for Thursday, February 13 at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the Paris Sectional.
