The NBA is changing the format for the three-point contest during All-Star weekend on February 15, announcing Tuesday that two shots are being added so that each round will now be a total of 27 shots instead of 25. The two additional shots will come from six feet beyond the three-point line in two "MTN DEW Zones" and be taken with a special green ball.
Competitors will also now get 70 seconds to finish their shots instead of 60 seconds. Meanwhile, the competitors in the slam dunk contest were announced: the L.A. Lakers' Dwight Howard, the 2008 slam dunk contest winner who's competing for the first time in 11 years; the Orlando Magic's Aaron Gordon, the Miami Heat's Derrick Jones Jr. and the Milwaukee Bucks' Pat Connaughton.
Knicks Fire President Steve Mills
The New York Knicks fired president Steve Mills on Tuesday, with general manager Scott Perry to take over control of basketball operations as the team begins an immediate search for a new president. The Knicks, who are 15-36, also fired coach David Fizdale earlier in the season after just 22 games. The team is headed for a seventh straight season with a losing record and missing the playoffs.
