Effingham and Teutopolis split freshman/sophomore boys basketball victories Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes tallied a 53-41 win in the freshman game.

T-town ripped out to a 16-7 opening quarter lead and led 33-20 at halftime.

C. Siemer tallied 18 for the winners while C. Bloemer added 14.

Effingham was led by Dillow and Donaldson with eight points each.

In the sophomore game, the Hearts edged out to a 10-9 opening quarter lead and led 23-18 at halftime. The Shoes fought back with a 13-12 final period but the opening half gave the Hearts the win.

EHS was led by Zerrusen and Wolfe with nine points each.

T-town was led by S. Buscher with eight.

At St. Anthony

Breese Central came calling and claimed both the freshman and sophomore victories Saturday.

In the freshman game, Breese Central ran off to a 22-6 opening quarter lead and St. Anthony could never get back in the game for a 66-57 loss.

Four players hit double figures for the Bulldogs despite the loss. Jonathan Willenborg led with 16 while Eli Levitt had 12, Max Sager 11 and Griffin Sehy 11.

In the sophomore game, St. Anthony was the early leader with a 19-16 halftime. But Breese Central tied the score at 32-32 in the third quarter and won with an 18-11 final period run, 50-43.

Brody Niebrugge led the Bulldogs with 13 points.
