The Hearts took an 11-9 opening quarter lead as Sawyer Althoff, Ella Niebrugge and Hayley Diveley knocked in a three-pointer each.
EHS held a 19-16 halftime tally. Callie Feldhake scored five in the second quarter.
The Hearts were still in control through the third quarter and led 34-25 going into the final period.
But here came the Braves. A. Rhoades scored seven while A. Scharf and L. Wolter had five each and the Braves went on a 21-11 tear to pull out the victory.
Effingham was led by Niebrugge with 13 points.
