Effingham St. Anthony captured its own Class 7-2A boys basketball regional Wednesday evening with a 54-27 win over North Clay (Louisville).
The Bullpups headed out to a 16-5 first quarter lead and led 33-15 at halftime.
Samuel Link and Ryan Schmidt were double figure performers for St. Anthony with 16 and 13 points respectively. Frost and Fearday were on the verge with nine points each.
North Clay was led by Zimdars with 10.
St. Anthony advances to the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional to take on the winner of the Casey-Westfield vs. Dieterich contest at Casey-Westfield tonight. The Bullpups will face that winner Wednesday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Class 7-4A Mount Zion Regional
Mount Zion claimed the championship of its own regional with a 54-33 win over Stephen Decatur.
Mount Zion advances tothe Chatham Glenwood Regional Wednesday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m. and face either Chatham Glenwood or Springfield Grant.
SIJHSAA Class S Regionals
In the Class S St. Peter Lutheran Regional, Iuka won over Odin Apostolic, 53-32 Wednesday evening.
Iuka advances to face Altamont Lutheran at 6 p.m. today followed by Patoka taking on St. Peter Lutheran at 7:15.
The winners advance to the championship game Friday at 6 p.m.
At Clay City
Clay City saw its season come to an end with a 71-24 loss to Allendale/St. Mary's at the Class S Clay City Regional Wednesday.
In the other contest, New Hebron won over Olney St. Joe, 33-29.
The championship is scheduled with Allendale/St. Mary's against New Nebron at 6 p.m. Friday at Clay City.
At Effingham
Effingham claimed two victories over Mattoon in junior high boys basketball action Wednesday.
The Mustangs claimed the eighth-grade A contest, 47-37. Effingham took a 20-13 opening quarter lead and led 32-21 at halftime.
Raddatz tallied 15 while Fox and Ring chipped in with 14 each.
In the B contest, Effingham edged Mattoon 25-20.
The Mustangs took a 6-0 opening quarter lead and led 14-2 at halftime. Mattoon came back with an 18-11 second half but fell short.
Effingham was led by Ellis with nine.
