Altamont, Dieterich Move Into Semifinals at NTC Tourney

The Altamont Indians and the Dieterich Movin Maroons moved into the championship bracket semifinals with wins Wednesday night at the 85th Annual National Trail Conference Tournament at Altamont.
Altamont downed the Windsor/Stew-Stras Comets 64-30 and Dieterich defeated the South Central Cougars 48-35. Both contests were heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.
ALTAMONT 64, WINDSOR/STEW-STRAS 30
The Indians shot 50% from the field, 21 of 42,, including 11 of 23 threes, to post the win. Altamont led 15-11 after one quarter, then outscored the Hatchets 22-12 in the second period to lead 37-23 at halftime. A 21-5 third quarter put Altamont in front 58-28, and the Indians outscored the Hatchets 6-2 in a continuous clock fourth quarter to win by 34 points.
Altamont made 10 of 17 foul shots, turned the ball over just nine times and only once in the second half, and grabbed 16 rebounds.
Windsor/Stew-Stras made 12 of 31 shots, 39%, including 3 of 10 threes. The Hatchets made three of just four free throws, turned the ball over 23 times, and claimed 19 rebounds.
Kaden Eirhart led Altamont with 16 points, while Aidan Jahraus scored 15 points, including his 1,000th career point during the third quarter. Also for Altamont: Denver Duckwitz 8, Noah Teasley and Noah Klimpel 7 each, Jerod Ruffner 4, Tyler Robbins 3, and Jared Kollman and Derick Budde 2 each.
Samuel Vonderheide and Gavan Wernsing each scored 8 points to lead W/SS, while Eli Howard scored 6, Austin Wittenberg 4, Jordan Wittenberg 3, and Landen Miller 1.
Altamont improved to 18-3 on the season, while Windsor/Stew-Stras is now 9-13.
DIETERICH 48, SOUTH CENTRAL 35
This was a close game throughout the first half. The teams were tied 7-7 after one quarter, and Dieterich led 20-18 at halftime. Dieterich outpointed South Central 12-6 in the third quarter to lead 32-24 heading to the final quarter. Dieterich outpointed South Central 16-11 in the final quarter to post the 13-point win.
Dieterich made 18 of 43 shots, 42%, including 2 of 7 threes. The Movin Maroons made 10 of 14 foul shots, committed 11 turnovers, and grabbed 32 rebounds.
South Central shot 36% from the field, 14 of 38, including 2 of 5 threes. The Cougars made 5 of 6 free throws, turned the ball over 14 times, and pulled down 15 rebounds.
Cole Niebrugge led Dieterich and all scorers with 14 points, while Derek Kuhl scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, and Collin Hartke had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Bryce Budde and Pete Britton each scored 6 points.
Chase Dodson led South Central with 12 points. Also for the Cougars: Keenin Willshire 9, Collin Miller 5, Corey Smith 4, Aaren Patten 3, and Hunter Brandt 2.
Dieterich improved to 15-6 on the season, while South Central is now 11-9.
