MOUNT ZION -- Teutopolis captured a high school boys basketball victory over Mount Zion, 66-43 Tuesday evening.

The two teams played to an 11-11 opening quarter tie. Mount Zion moved ahead 16-15 at halftime.

But the Wooden Shoes did some heavy duty work in the third quarter, outscoring the Braves 30-17 to lead 45-28 going into the final period.

Evan Niemerg scored eight of his 12 total points in the quarter while Luke Ungrund tallied seven.

"We survived a bad first half shooting effort," said T-town Coach Chet Reeder. "In the second half our ball pressure on defense helped us get easy buckets. That in turn helped us make some outside shots."

Ungrund finished with 16 points to lead the Shoes in scoring while Niemerg tallied 12.

T-town won the battle of the boards by a 39-21 count. Evan Wermert pulled down nine rebounds. Ungrund had four steals.
