MOUNT ZION -- Effingham Junior High School fell in the Class 7-4A Mount Zion Boys Basketball Regional Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs lost to host Mount Zion, 48-16. In the second contest, Stephen Decatur downed Mattoon, 45-32.

Mount Zion and Stephen Decatur advances to the championship game scheduled for tonight at 6 p.m. The winner goes on to the Mount Zion Sectional vs. the winner of the Chatham Glenwood Regional Feb. 5.

At Vandalia

Teutopolis B claimed two victories in the Vandalia Eighth-Grade Basketball Tournament Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won over Ramsey, 56-29. T-town took a 33-21 halftime lead then had a 14-4 third period.

Ethan Thoele tallied 16 points for the Shoes while Austin Bloemer scored 15.

T-town B then defeated Pana, 31-22. The Shoes held Pana scoreless in the opening quarter to take a 9-0 lead.

Bloemer led the way with 12 points.

At Clay City

Clay City defeated West Salem 46-43 in the quarterfinal game of the SIJHSAA Region 16 Class S Regional Tuesday.

Tonight's games are Clay City against Allendale-St. Mary's at 6 p.m. followed by New Hebron facing Olney St. Joe at 7:15. The winners advance to the regional championship game Friday at 6 p.m.
