FCA to Hold EIU HOOPS Event Feb. 22

The Eastern Illinois University Athletic Department and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host the annual EIU HOOPS event Saturday, February 22.

Youth groups and school athletic teams and their leaders, parents and coaches are invited to attend this 18th annual event which sees more than 200 area junior high/high school students enjoying pizza/pop, games and music with athletes/coaches sharing their faith. The only cost is $2 per person and this allows them to watch both women's and men's basketball games that afternoon.

Youth group leaders, chaperones, coaches need to contact Tom Woodall at 217-549-6671 or twoodall@eiu.edu before Feb. 15 so the food provisions may be made.

Groups park in the large lot just west of the EIU football stadium, then walk to and enter the north doors of the Lantz Gym. At 11:20 a.m., participants obtain food and then move to the Indoor Field House for games and the program.

Music will be led by Mike Beresford, former EIU track athlete and long time school administrator in Indianapolis. EIU coaches and athletes will share their fath and special doorp rizes are randomly given.

At 12:45 p.m., the group is dismissed to go watch the EIU women vs. Austin Peay (Nashville, Tenn.). Later at 3:15, the EIU men will also play against Austin Peay.
