SIGEL -- Sigel St. Michael and Stewardson-Strasburg advanced to the championship game of the Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Boys Basketball Regional Monday.

St. Michael claimed a 44-30 win over Matthew St. John's in the first game.

In the second contest, Stew-Stras was a 27-17 winner over Martinsville.

Martinsville held a 4-2 opening quarter lead but Stew-Stras came back with an 11--0 second period run to lead 13-4 at halftime. Stew-Stras continued its momentum with a 10-7 third period.

Morris tallied 11 for the winners while Gurgel added eight. Stew-Stras improved to 19-4 on the season.

Stew-Stras advances to face Sigel St. Michael Thursday at 6 p.m. for the regional championship and the right to move on to the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional Feb. 5.

Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

St. Anthony downed South Central in the first game Monday evening at its own regional.

The Bullpups took an 8-4 opening quarter lead and led 19-4 at halftime.

R. Schmidt tallied 11 points for the Bullpups.

South Central was led by J. Smith with six.

In the second contest, North Clay (Louisville) defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 47-23.

North Clay jumped out to a 15-2 opening quarter lead and that was the contest.

L. Groves tallied 14 for the winners while Zimdars added nine.

CHBC was led by AJ Radloff with six. CHBC ends the season with a 12-11 record.

St. Anthony and North Clay now square off for the championship Wednesday at 6 p.m. The winner advances to the St. Elmo Sectional Feb. 5.

Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Casey-Westfield picked up a victory in its own regional Monday evening.

Casey-Westfield down Paris Crestwood, 47-31.

In the second contest, Dieterich bounced Hutsonville/Palestine 44-29.

Dieterich moves into the title contest against Casey-Westfield Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 7-3A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis moved into the championship game of its own regional with a win Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes trounced Jasper County, 54-11.

T-town ripped out to a 17-2 opening quarter lead. The Shoes were led in scoring by Jacob Bushur with 11 and Luke Niemerg with 10.

Jasper County was led by Lain Burgener with seven points. Jasper County ends the season with a 5-16 record.

In the second contest, Lawrenceville Parkview won over Robinson Nuttall, 40-37.

Lawrenceville Parkview and Teutopolis will square off for the regional championship at 6 p.m. Thursday for the right to advance to the Cumberland Sectional Feb. 5.
