CLASS 1A DIETERICH REGIONAL

Dieterich and Windsor advanced in the Dieterich Regional with victories Tuesday evening.

Dieterich 63, Martinsville 43

The Movin' Maroons edged ahead 19-13 and led 31-24 at halftime. Dieterich then whipped out a 14-7 third quarter advantage and went on for the 20-point victory.

Two players hit double figures for Dieterich. Dalton Hinterscher, a senior, led the way with 18 points while Brandon Westjohn, a junior, tallied 12. Dieterich hit six three-pointers with Hinterscher garnering two and Austin Bushue two.

Second-seeded Dieterich advances to face sixth-seeded Windsor at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. In tonight's contest, Neoga meets top-seeded Oblong at 7:30 p.m.

Windsor 63, Stewardson-Strasburg 58

Stewardson-Strasburg held a 28-26 halftime lead after outscoring Windsor 19-14 in the second quarter. But Windsor came back with a 19-12 third period rush to lead 45-40 going into the final quarter then played to an 18-18 final period tie.

The Blue Devils had even scoring with four players in double figures. Christian Smith, a 5-foot-9 senior, led the way with 23 points. Smith knocked in six of seven field goals and was 11 of 14 from the line. Tristan Warner chipped in with 16, Hayden Cole 11 and Trey Leasher 10.

The Comets also were led by four players in double figures. Justin Fulk tallied 16, Jason Fry 14, Brandon Helmuth 12 and Jason Becker 10.

The Blue Devils will take on Dieterich Thursday at 7:30 p.m. In tonight's game, Neoga faces top-seeded Oblong at 7:30.

CLASS 1A ST. ELMO REGION

Altamont and Cowden-Herrick advanced from the National Trail Conference in the St. Elmo Regional Tuesday evening.

Altamont 73, Ramsey 28

The Indians went on the warpath and simply destroyed Ramsey. With a 19-8 opening quarter lead, Altamont went to 40-18 at halftime and never looked back.

Four players hit double figures and 11 scored in the contest for the Indians. Jon Kuhns, a 6-foot-3 senior, led Altamont with 14 points. Ryan Mayhaus and Justin McGinnis chipped in with 11 each and Garrett Ziegler added 10.

Altamont returns to action tonight facing Cowden-Herrick at 8 p.m. in the second game of the evening. In the opener, St. Elmo squares off against top-seeded Nokomis at 6 p.m.

Cowden-Herrick 71, Brownstown 48

Cowden-Herrick didn't give up in this one. After leading 15-12 at the end of the opening quarter, Brownstown came back with a 16-12 run to lead 28-27 at halftime. The Hornets then put on the big push in the second half.

CH outscored the Bombers 13-6 in the third period and had a whopping 31-14 final quarter run. Four players finished in double figures. Ethan Schoonover, a 5-foot-10 senior, tallied 18 points while Luke Moore scored 15, Colton Burrus 14 and Tyson Morgason 10.

Brownstown was led by Jacob Behrends, a junior, with 17.

Cowden-Herrick advances to meet Altamont at 8 p.m. today. St. Elmo takes on Nokomis at 6 p.m. in the opening game today.

CLASS 1A WOODLAWN REGIONAL

Two games were contested in the Woodlawn Regional Monday evening.

In the opener Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran trounced Sandoval 63-33.

The second game went to Patoka over Mulberry Grove 54-32.

The regional continues tonight as top-seeded Woodlawn faces South Central at 6 p.m. followed by Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran goes against Patoka at 8. The winners advance to the title contest Friday.

CLASS 2A NEWTON REGIONAL

Robinson bounced Marshall 68-37 in the second game of the Newton Regional Tuesday evening.

Robinson handed Marshall just a four-point loss in regular season play but came back tough in the regional to win by 31.

Michael Akande tallied 14 and had nine rebounds. The Maroons improve to 23-4 and will play either Newton or Casey-Westfield for the regional title Friday. Newton and Casey-Westfield square off tonight at 7:30.
