T-town Continues To Roll at Highland, Lincoln Prairie, LIC Tourneys

The Wooden Shoes' latest victim was Belleville West Monday evening. Coach Laurie Thompson's crew took a 52-41 victory. Belleville West had the early lead 10-9 after the opening quarter but T-town got untracked with a 17-8 second period and didn't look back.
Lexie Niebrugge led the Shoes in scoring with 19 points, hitting three trifectas. Also in double figures was Katilyn Schumacher with 11.
Olivia Niemerg led in assists with two and pulled down five rebounds. Schumacher led in rebounds with six. Isabella Hardiek, L. Niebrugge and Schumacher had two steals each.
In other games Monday, Breese Central downed Belleville Althoff 44-27 while Triad won over Salem 56-33 in loser bracket competition. In winner bracket action, Bethal Civic Memorial downed Collinsville, 51-36.
T-town will now face Bethalto Civic Memorial at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The winner advances to the championship game while the loser will play for third.

Lincoln Prairie Conference Tournament
Cumberland fell to Blue Ridge, 30-29 in consolation bracket play at the Lincoln Prairie Conference Girls Basketball Tournament Monday evening.
The Pirates faced Blue Ridge at Broadlands Heritage. The two teams were tied at 6-6 after the first quarter and Cumberland moved ahead 18-15 at halftime. Blue Ridge came back with an 8-5 third quarter to tie the score at 23-23. In the final period, Blue Ridge pulled out the one-point victory.
Cumberland had two players in double figures, Zoe Mitchell with 11 and Sage Carr with 10. Mitchell pulled down with rebounds and had two assists and a steal. The Pirates are now out of the tournament with the loss.
In the other game at Broadlands Heritage, Arcola defeated Decatur LSA, 64-23. In games at Villa Grove, Tri-County won over Argenta-Oreana 66-28 and Villa Grove-Heritage downed Okaw Valley 55-23.
The tourney continues Thursday with Tri-County against Cerro Gordo-Bement at 6 and Villa Grove-Heritage taking on Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 7:30 at Villa Grove and Arcola facing Argenta-Oreana at 6 and Blue Ridge against Okaw Valley at 7:30 at Broadlands Heritage. Finals are scheduled for Saturday.

Only one game was contested Monday at the Little Illini Conference Girls Basketball Tournament.
Red Hill (Bridgeport) edged Flora, 42-41 in consolation bracket action.
Red Hill advances to meet Casey-Westfield at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Also playing Wednesday, Newton takes on Robinson at 7:30.
Tonight's contests feature Paris against Marshall at 6 and Olney taking on Lawrenceville at 7:30.
