The home teams dominated throughout the day at the 2020 St. Anthony Shootout. All of the action was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.
The final scheduled game of the day, Quincy Notre Dame at St. Anthony, was canceled due to snow and ice in the Quincy region. The final contest instead was a JV game between St. Anthony and Effingham.
Here's a recap of Saturday's games:
Game 1 – Dieterich 69, Chrisman 38 (Chrisman is still looking for its first win of the season, but was trailing just 17-11 after one quarter; the second quarter was the difference as Dieterich outscored the Cardinals 15-3 to lead 32-14 at halftime; the Movin Maroons posted a 22-18 advantage after intermission to lead 54-32, and Dieterich posted a 15-6 edge in the final quarter to win by 31; Dieterich made 25 of 65 shots, 38%, including 7 of 13 threes and made 13 of 21 foul shots; Dieterich committed just 11 turnovers and grabbed 33 rebounds; Chrisman made 16 of 41 shots, 39%, including 5 of 17 threes; Chrisman shot just four free throws and made just one; turned the ball over 24 times, and had just 18 rebounds; Cole Niebrugge led Dieterich with 19 points, while Collin Hartke and Bryce Budde each added 13 points; also for Dieterich: Pete Britton 7, Andrew Lidy 6, Derek Kuhl 5, and Cory Gephart and Jack Westendorf 3 apiece; for Chrisman: 14 for Landry Lorenzen, Layne Smith 9, Pierce Neuman 7, Gavin DeWeese 6, and Porter Hale 2; Dieterich is 10-6 on the season, while Chrisman is 0-15)

Game 2 – Paris 63, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 33 (the middle two quarters decided this game; Paris led CHBC 12-11 after one quarter, but outscored the Bobcats 41-10 in the middle two periods and led 53-21 heading to the final quarter; CHBC outpointed Paris 12-10 in the final period but it was much too little too late; Paris shot the ball well, hitting 51% from the field, 26 of 51 including 7 of 19 threes; the Tigers made three of just four foul shots, turned the ball over 10 times, and grabbed 29 rebounds; CHBC made 14 of 43 shots, 33%, including 1 of 7 threes; the Bobcats made four of six free throws; turned the ball over 12 times, and grabbed 20 rebounds; Mason Hutchings with 14 points and Jude Sullivan with 11 points led Paris; also for the Tigers: Garrett King 7, Conor Breneman 6, Preston Porter 6, Dustin Creech 4, Logan Rhoads 4, Kohlton Mills 3, and Jared Bowers, J.R. Game 4 – Effingham 57, Casey-Westfield 49 (Effingham jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but Casey-Westfield was back to within 15-14 by the end of the first quarter; the Warriors had the game tied 26-26 at halftime; but the Hearts had pulled back out to a 40-36 lead at the end of the third quarter; Effingham pushed their lead to 14 points early in the fourth quarter but Casey-Westfield battled back to within four before the Hearts finally won by eight; Nate Thompson led Effingham with 20 points, while Drew Thompson scored 14 points and Tate Niebrugge 12 points; also for Effingham: Jacob Stoneburner six, Parker Wolfe four, and Dylan Ritz one; for Casey-Westfield: Noah Livingston scored 16 points and Rece Overbeck had 14 points; also for Casey-Westfield: Dawson Dallape 8, Jackson Hills 7, Will Hosselton 2 and Colin Branson 2; Effingham improved to 11-6 on the season, while Casey-Westfield is now 12-6)
