Effingham St. Anthony edged Shelbyville 58-56 in girls high school basketball action Thursday evening.
The Bulldogs took a 16-9 opening quarter lead as Riley Guy connected on two three-pointers and finished with nine points in the period. The Bulldogs led 34-23 at halftime. Lucy Fearday took over in the second quarter with 10 points.
But the Rams came roaring out in the third period with a 20-8 run and led 43-42 going into the final quarter. T. Wade scored 13 of those 20 points.
Reese Jones connected on two three-pointers in the final period while Grace Karolewicz scored five as the Bulldogs took a 16-13 final period to win by two points.
Jones finished with 15 points to lead the Bulldogs while Fearday tallied 14 and Guy 13.
St. Anthony captured a 43-12 junior varsity contest. Fearday scored 11, Rillie Willenborg 10 and Anna Faber 10 for the winners.

At Effingham
In an Apollo Conference contest, Lincoln came calling and went home with a 68-51 win over the host Hearts Thursday.
Lincoln edged ahead 17-16 in the opening quarter and led 32-28 at halftime. The Hearts remained close in the third period on the strength of Hayley Diveley's two three-pointers and a regular basket. But Lincoln came through with a 19-7 final period and that squelched any comeback bid by the Hearts.
Diveley led EHS with 22 points on seven field goals that included four three-pointers and four free throws. Annie Frost tallied 14.

Teutopolis zipped out to a 12-2 opening quarter lead on Danville and had a 23-8 third period to take a 58-32 win Thursday evening.
The Wooden Shoes had only one player in double figures as 11 scored in the game. Lexie Niebrugge tallied 14. Olivia Niemerg and Hope Bueker scored nine each. Niemerg led in rebounds with seven while Niebrugge pulled down six. Niemerg led in steals with two. Niebrugge had one assist and one blocked shot.

The homestanding Movin' Maroons played host to Ramsey and captured a 58-41 non-conference win Thursday.
Dieterich edged out to a 9-5 opening quarter lead and held that four-point lead at halftime, 22-18. Both teams scored 13 in the third period before Dieterich had a 17-10 final quarter.
Three players hit double digits for the winners. Andrea Bierman led the way with 17 points while Emily Bloemer tallied 12 and Kaitlyn Boerngen chipped in with 10.
Dieterich also edged Ramsey in the junior varsity contest, 23-21.

Lawrenceville took the opening quarter lead 10-5, led 23-18 at halftime and 37-32 going into the final quarter. The Eagles mounted a major comeback with a 22-10 run and pulled out the victory.
Brooke Jansen led Newton with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Whitney Zumbahlen contributed 16 points and seven boards. Allison Harris had three assists while Eliza Bierman had two.

Cumberland was led by Zoe Mitchell with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Mitchell also had two assists. Sage Carr and Morgan Scott had two assists each. Josie Brown and Abigail Becker had two steals each.
