The 2019 Effingham-Teutopolis Christmas Classic All-Tournament Team was announced following Saturday night's tournament championship game.
Team members are Parker Wolfe and Nate Thompson of Effingham High School, Jaccob Dust of St. Anthony, Evan Wermert of Teutopolis, Gavin Eldridge of Antioch, Termarian Howard of Champaign Centennial, Connor Heaton and Griffin Andricks of Central A&M, Na'Shawn Townsen and Javonte McKenzie of Corliss, Jhei-R Jones and Ryan Sucha of Lincoln Way East, Sami Osmani and Trey Ward of Oak Lawn, Justin Guernsey of Pleasant Plains, and Jake Hamilton of Sacred Heart-Griffin.
Lincoln Way East were the tournament champs for 2019, defeating Chicago Corliss 56-50.
A special moment was shared earlier in the evening when the players of Chicago Corliss made a presentation of backpacks and shoes to Catholic Charities of Effingham for distribution to kids in need in the Effingham area. Griffin Coach Harvey Jones has undertaken the collection and distribution the last few years that Corliss has participated in the tournament. Coach Jones said Effingham is like a second home to these kids, and he wants to teach them the importance of giving back and touching lives outside their community.
Dr. Pat Niebrugge was on hand to accept the items on behalf of Catholic Charities.
