CHBC To Meet Newton For Dieterich Girls Tourney Title

In Friday action, Arcola downed Casey-Westfield, 63-43 in the opening contest.

Newton then defeated South Central 54-46. The Eagles edged out to a 23-22 halftime lead. South Central came back with a 19-14 run to lead 41-37 going into the final quarter. But the Eagles rallied with a 17-5 run for the victory.

Brooke Jansen scored 17 while Allison Harris tallied 13 for the winners. South Central was led by Halle Smith with 14 and Sydnee Garrett with 10.

Arcola then beat North Clay, 68-55. The Purple Riders ran out to a 24-11 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

North Clay was led in scoring by Madison Lovett with 19.

Brownstown/St. Elmo tallied a 68-43 win over South Central. BSE held a 36-25 halftime lead and had 20-7 final period.

BSE was led by four players in double figures. Audrey Wilhour and Olivia Campbell provided the one-two scoring punch with 17 each. Claire Wilhour chipped in with 14 and Natalie Oberlink added 12.

South Central was led by Laney Webster with 15 and Smith with 14.

CHBC handed North Clay a 61-33 loss. The Bobcats zipped out to a 23-3 opening quarter lead.

Jaelyn Robertson scored 14 while Lauren Wojcik added 12 and Mackenzie Bunch 10. Six other players contributed points.

North Clay was led by Madison Lovett with 20.

Brownstown/St. Elmo then finished out the evening with a 61-40 win over host Dieterich.

BSE held only a five point lead at the half and a 41-34 lead after three quarter. BSE then went on a 20-6 final period run.

Olivia Campbell led the way with 34 points.

Dieterich was led by Emily Bloemer with 13.

Today's finals have CHBC meeting Newton at 6 p.m. for the title. The third place contest will feature BSE against Arcola at 4 p.m. North Clay takes on Dieterich at 2:30 for fifth place. Casey-Westfield faces South Central at 1 p.m. for seventh place.
