St. Elmo/Brownstown Wins Own Tourney Crown

SEB and South Central played to a 7-7 opening quarter. SEB moved ahead 25-18 at halftime and had an 11-9 third period. The Cougars fought back with a 14-9 final period but couldn't get over the first half deficit.
Jacob Baron led the way for the Eagles with 16 points while Andy Goldsborough chipped in with 11.
South Central was led by Keenin Willshire with 14 points.
Patoka defeated Cumberland, 61-60 in overtime for third place.
The Warriors edged out to a 9-6 opening quarter lead and led 25-26 at halftime and 39-34 after three quarters. Then in the final period, Cumberland came back with a 22-17 final period to tie the game. In the overtime period, Alexander connected on a field goal and two free throws while Hinkel nailed a free throw.
Alexander led Patoka with 25 points and Belcher added 10. Cumberland was led by Wyatt Napier with 22, Cutts with 19 and Hemmen with 18.
The fifth place game went to Mulberry Grove over Ramsey, 52-43.
In the seventh place contest, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 53-32.
WSS edged out to a 12-9 opening quarter lead and led 25-17 at halftime. The Hatchets then had a 28-15 second half.
WSS was led by Samuel Vonderheide with 18 points, Jordan Wittenberg with 13 and Gavan Wernsing with 10.
CHBC was led by Daniel Lucas with 11 points.
Named to the First All-Tournament Team were Jacob Baron (SEB), most valuable player; Keenin Willshire (South Central), Wyatt Criner (Mulberry Grove), Ross Hemmen (Cumberland) and Andy Goldsborough (SEB).
Second Team members wereH unter Brandt (South Central), Tyler Alexander (Patoka), Brennyn Cutts (Cumberland), Kendall Aderman (Ramsey) and Jordan Wittenberg (WSS).
First place cheerleading went to St. Elmo/Brownstown while second place went to Mulberry Grove.
In Friday's games, Ramsey won over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 49-43.
The score was tied at 28-28 at halftime in this contest. Ramsey then came out with a 12-6 third period and the two teams played to an even 9-9 in the final period.
WSS was led by one player in double figures.Austin Wittenberg with 12 points.
South Central then took a 46-36 victory over Cumberland.
The Cougars leaped out to an 11-3 opening quarter lead and led 22-17 at halftime. Cumberland came back with a 12-4 third period to pull with three points. But South Central took charge in the final quarter, connecting on 11 of 14 free throws.while Willshire scored nine points.
Hunter Brandt finished with 18 points for South Central while Willshire added 15.
Cumberland was led by Brennyn Cutts with 15 and Ross Hemmen with 11.
