Effingham claimed two victories over Effingham St. Anthony in fresh/sophomore boys basketball action Monday.
In the freshman contest, the Hearts edged St. Anthony, 54-53. St. Anthony held a 19-15 first quarter lead and led 35-22 at halftime and 47-35 going into the final quarter.
The Hearts came back with a 19-6 final period to pull out the victory. Two players hit double figures for Effingham. Dillow tallied 13 while Estrada added 10.
St. Anthony was led by Michael Martelli with 17, Jonathan Willenborg with 16 and Max Sager with 10.
In the sophomore contest, Effingham stepped out to a 28-14 halftime lead and never looked back in the 56-38 win.
The Hearts were led in scoring by Volpi and Fox with 12 points each.
St. Anthony was led by Kyle Stewart and Colton Fearday with eight each.

At Olney
Olney claimed a freshman/sophomore boys basketball win over North Clay (Louisville) Monday, 47-32.
Olney edged out to a 7-4 opening quarter lead then had a 13-5 second period run.
North Clay was led by Bryton Griffy with 11 points and Brady Ingram with 10.

At Newton
Newton claimed a 47-43 win over Edwards County (Albion) in freshman/sophomore boys action Monday.
Edwards County held an 18-8 opening quarter lead and led 29-19 at halftime. Newton came back with a 12-4 third quarter to pull within 33-31 going into the final oeruid then had a 16-10 run for the victory.
Mulvey tallied 14 while Tharp and Buerster added nine each for the winners.
