SIGEL -- Stewardson-Strasburg and Effingham Sacred Heart advanced to the consolation championship of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament with victories Monday evening.
Sacred Heart defeated St. Elmo/Brownstown, no score was available.
In the second game Monday, Stew-Stras downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 33-19.
Stew-Stras took a 15-6 halftime lead and had an 18-13 second half. Gurgel tallied 16 points for the winners who improved to 11-3 with the win.
CHBC was led by Calame and Lamb with four points each.
Stew-Stras and Sacred Heart meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for the consy title.
Tonight's games, in winner bracket action, feature Sigel St. Michael against North Clay (Louisville) at 6:15 and South Central facing Dieterich at 7:30. The winners advance to the championship game Thursday at 8 p.m. while the losers meet for third place at 6:45 p.m.

At Centralia
Centralia defeated Effingham by almost the identical scores in both seventh and eighth grade games Monday.
In the seventh-grade contest, Centralia was a 57-27 winner. Flack led Effingham with 10 points as the Mustangs fell to 2-7.
In eighth-grade action, Centralia won 57-28. Larimore led the Mustangs with six points.

At St. Anthony
Flora Floyd Henson came calling and split victories with Effingham St. Anthony in junior high action Monday.
The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest, 31-18. St. Anthony held a 15-13 halftime lead then held Flora scoreless in the final quarter.
Ryan Schmidt tallied 11 points for the Bullpups.
In the eighth-grade game, Flora Floyd Henson edged the Bullpups, 36-33. Flora led 12-2 after the opening quarter and 19-13 at halftime. Both teams scored nine points in the third period. St. Anthony then had an 11-8 final period run only to fall short.
B. Adams, C. Westendorf and C. Roepke scored seven points each for the Bullpups.

Jasper County tallied two victories over Red Hill (Bridgeport) Monday.
Jasper County won the seventh-grade contest, 47-10. Jasper County took an 8-4 opening quarter lead then had a 19-5 second period run and 17-0 third quarter. Anthony Montanez tallied 16 points while Wade Wickham chipped in with 11. Jasper County improved to 3-7.
In eighth-grade play, Jasper County was a 54-31 winner and now sports a 6-4 record.
Flowers led the way with 15 points while Wolf added 13.
