Area Players Advance in Three-Point Showdown

Several area players advanced to state in the Country Companies Three-Point Showdown after sectional action Thursday evening.

At the Class 1A Altamont Sectional, Effingham St. Anthony's Makayla Walsh advanced along with Brownstown's Audriana Pruett and Dani Austin. The trio will be competing at the state tournament Friday, February 22.

In the Class 2A Newton Sectional, Emily Kerner of Newton and Katie Poe of Cumberland advanced and will compete at the 2A State Tournament next week.

In the Class 3A Centralia Regional, Effingham High School's Caitlin Kaufman led those advancing with 10 three-pointers Thursday evening. The Hearts lost in the regional championship game but Kaufman will be advancing to the Waterloo Sectional Monday, February 18 to compete.
